The medical profession has often struggled with health issues and the ways in which to best handle such issues for their patients. As patients come in the door and put their health issues on the table asking for the medical doctor to "fix" them after years of abuse to their bodies there are very few options that are available to modern doctors.

For certain health issues there are drugs that can be used to address the serious health issues that individuals face. Unfortunately, these remedies can only stop the symptoms temporarily and most doctors find that without cooperation and lifestyle changes from their patients they really don't stand a chance of making these individuals better over the long term. It takes more than just a quick fix to repair a lifetime of damage and abuse.

Surgery is the usual response to the more serious health problems and issues especially for diseased or damaged vital organs. Removing all or even part of any diseased parts of the body is very traumatic. Even if you are led to believe that missing body parts are not a big deal, such as a kidney or lung, the body has to shift the load to the other remaining organs to try to normalize the functions they perform. Any removal, regardless of how insignificant is a big deal.

It has become common practice for surgeons to remove many of the minimal organs like tonsils and appendix because they are easy to remove if they cause any problems and don't appear to be missed by the individual or the body vital functioning. However, because these seemingly insignificant organs are tied to the immune system, more consideration should be considered before these organs are so quickly slated for removal except in extreme circumstance situations.

This all too common medical model is flawed from the start and leaves medical professional little options to choose from and the results less promising for the individual patients. It is common for the individual to have a problem admitting that much of their health issues are directly related to their personal attitudes toward their own health and the silver bullet modern medical quick fix expectations they have placed on doctors and modern medicine. Nothing except death is going to be very effective or successful for any patient, until the individual attitude toward better health choices and changes are put into daily practice, thus allowing the doctors to have more options available to turn the tide of the destructive lifestyles and attitudes.
