Everywhere you turn people are searching for solutions to the nation’s health care crisis. The government thinks they have a plan but whether it's going to work or not will remain to be seen. Lay people, doctors, and insurance companies alike are all working on trying to assess both the complications and solutions that will best work to provide the most quality care to the most people at an affordable cost.

When you look at the system there are some fundamental imperfections and these flaws more than anything else seem to be at the crux of the problem in the system. The very first and most apparent dilemma is the increasing cost of health care which results in a rise in health insurance rates and therefore is passed onto the customers. Now most doctors will tell you that they need to charge more, very simply because of the cost of medical malpractice insurance and the amount of lawsuits which doctors face each and every year.

For the moment let’s just look at the excessive price of medicine and the drugs we need to survive. Now in this country it's near impossible to believe that it costs upward of $200 to produce a small bottle of pills and yet a lot of prescriptions actually cost more than this, luckily most people don’t actually pay this out of pocket but still when your insurance company is paying these type of prices how are they expected to keep your premiums low?

When this issue is presented drug companies will state that the cost of the medicine is not simply a direct result of production costs and labor but that this money goes back into medical research. But when you look at this there is not much logic in thinking that they get money from the government for research, they receive donations from individuals for it, then you are paying for more research by buying your medications and still they are no closer to any form or humane and effective treatments for issues such as cancer and aids. Does this really make sense to anyone?

Ultimately there are no easy answers to the nation’s health care issues and in fact each question seems to just take you to more questions. The bottom line is that those within the system know what's wrong, but since it almost certainly leads to the lining of individuals pockets and the interests of certain groups the answers to the problems may never be discovered.
