Communication is crucial when it comes to operating a business. Without clear, concise and constant communication between all departments along with all levels of management, the business is not going to operate smoothly and there will be unnecessary problems that could be averted. However you have to have a reasonable expectation from your employees and they should expect some type of professional consideration from their superiors.

This communication is very essential in the working of any business or organization. It makes it possible for departments to know what is happening between them and what to expect from every department. It makes it possible for the managers and employees to acquire the information that will affect them from various areas without needing to worry about them keeping significant things in their own departments.

Having open lines of communication will allow information to flow from one department to another and up and down the chain of command. This way information doesn’t stay in any one place too long. It makes it to where it can be helpful much faster than when communications are hampered by petty jalousies and grudges. It seems silly that people in the same company would have any type of jealousy or grudges for another department, nevertheless it happens.

It's also imperative that workers on the floor or in any department for that matter can come to their supervisors and point out an issue or stop work if there is a problem. The workers on the floor should be able to stop production if there is an obvious mistake or if they suspect something is wrong. They need to be able to halt production as soon as a problem is discovered. It's going to save money in the end because the more errors that can be prevented will enhance quality all around. When people are looking to spot problems, the quality will improve.

Quality and improvement are the things that you are looking for anyway. Your customers expect and demand quality and if you're not serving up quality on a dependable basis, then you are in jeopardy of losing those customers. And everybody knows that once you lose a customer because of service and quality issues, it is nearly impossible to get them back. You always want to advance and make improvements in efficiency and quality. If the lines of communication are not open, on any level, it will make that part of the job almost impossible.
