A number of people will visit both Brisbane and Sunshine Coast because the two are pretty convenient to each other and there is regular public transportation between the two places. Most people will spend time in Brisbane to see the cultural events and exhibits before going to the coast for some ocean and beach time. If you set up your holiday this way it might be a waste of time because the coastal areas have lots of culture also, so if your holiday time is tight you might want to go directly to the oceanfront areas and go see all the culture they have to offer.

At the Sunshine Coast you will discover many, many cultural activities happening all through the year, and what is great is that there is a great amount of diversity amongst these events. All along the coast during all the season visitors will find wine festivals, jazz festivals, concerts, photographic exhibitions and art exhibits.

Here's an example of the year long festivities, in May you can go to the wonderful Art Carnivale, and in August you can listen to the talented Thomas Gould who is known around the world as a violinist. For the beginning of April there is Photographic Exhibition at Discover Eumindi, then at the end of April you get to experience the fabulous sounds and tastes at the Dingo Creek Wine jazz Blues Festival. October brings the Gympie Gold Rush Festival or in March there is the great Film Festival.

Just about every point in the year has some fabulous cultural event happening right in the Sunshine Coast region not to mention the incredible free Caloundra Regional Art Gallery and of course the many incredible adventure tours offered throughout the region year round. There are many opportunities to appreciate the culture and heritage of this region without having to trek into the city of Brisbane.

A stay on the Sunshine Coast offers incredible attractions, beachfront accommodations, and of course dining at some of the most incredible establishments in the world. It is a wonderful holiday experience that doesn't need to be enhanced by a trip into the city unless Brisbane is another region you would like to explore. This well balanced holiday destination offers a diverse selection of activities and when combined with the many local festivals offers a balance between the cultural side and the playful side of this beach town.
