We are all familiar with diseases and illnesses such as cancer, diabetes and etc., but, not surprising, we are very unfamiliar with new rare diseases that would commonly label its host as a freak of nature. The portrait of bravery that these people inspire in the face of unknown confusion and fear is a great reassurance of the simple complexity and undying human spirit.

Although acromegaly and dwarfism have been around for centuries, there still are no clear answers. It is sad to see individuals stricken with unknown medical oddity conditions and no answers, leaving the medical community with still more questions to comprehend. We can imagine a baby at 17 and still not aging? Or how about trying to treat someone allergic to life sustaining sun and water, or picture out of control warts rendering your extremities useless. While medicine has made tremendous strides, there is so much that is still unknown.

In a perfect world we would be able to predict and prepare for the unexpected, because it would be expected. If you are planning on increasing the family through children, you should always plan on things that might go wrong. We all wish and hope for healthy kids, that will become healthy adults, but some are not that fortunate. Many new born health issues cannot be anticipated and no way of preparing, except with health insurance coverage that will leave you less vulnerable in the event there are issues that require extensive treatments or surgeries.

A fairy tale once told of a land where everyone received the best health care totally free and lived long and happy lives. Unfortunately, that was in a different time and far away land far from the here and now. If you reside in a foreign country, you will most likely be at the mercy of medium to very poor health care conditions, especially in the event that the disease or illness is rare in nature. However, U.S. citizens are unable to tap into some of care unless they have sufficient health insurance coverage.

How sad for a technologically advanced country such as the U.S. to still have citizens that are unable to afford necessary health care for themselves and family. One would theorize that advanced modern medicine would be available to its citizens regardless of their ability to pay or the dictates of their health insurance coverage. Too often being healthy is associated with being wealthy. As idealistic as this might sound, the reality is that we have the means to help those in need; so why are the less fortunate suffering needlessly?
