Many businesses that offer health insurance and other benefits to their employees can play a very tricky game. They will keep their employee from hitting that 35 or 40 hour work week because they don't want to pay them health insurance benefits and this is completely legal, although a little sneaky.

Many people are finding themselves on the unemployment line for a lot longer than they anticipated and when an opportunity even a part time one appears they are likely to take it with the thought that it may lead to a full time position eventually. However, employers are most likely to keep the position a part time one for as long as they can so they won't have to provide benefits.

If you are in the job market and your goal is to get benefits then you need to make sure the company considers the position you are interviewing a full time position with the number of required hours. You may consider taking a part time position if you know it will lead into a full time position within a certain time frame.

Like everyone else, companies are trying to streamline their expenses and it is in their best interest not to have less people with full time status where they have to provide healthcare benefits. Even full time employees are only being offered a certain amount toward their healthcare premiums and then they have to pay the remainder for the specific plan they chose.

If you need health insurance and some of the other benefits that are associated with full time employment then you need to make sure that you know what you are getting into. Don't just assume that because a company is hiring you on full time that you will automatically receive the benefits you are entitled to. Very often you may not so open up that dialog when they are making that job offer. It is the best way to make sure that you know what you are getting yourself into.

Quality health insurance can be pretty costly. If you don't have a job that offers individual health insurance, searching online is your best bet.
