West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum! What a funky name Kasabian chose for their new CD, and third studio album. The British Alt-Rockers album was let loose on June 8, 2009. Producer by Dan, The Automator, Nakamura. He's the hip-hop and electronica guy from America, who got some attention from his production of Gorillaz's first.
In Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England there once was a psychiatric hospital named West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum. And that's the inspiration for the album title. Of course the name was eventually switched out to Stanley Royd Hospital/Psychiatric Hospital.
The new album opens with the song Underdog. The opening track has also been used in a commercial advertising Sony Bravia televisions. The song West Ryder/Silver Bullet is a duet featuring Rosario Dawson. The track Vlad The Impaler was available to be downloaded for free from Kasabian's official website from March 31, 2009 to April 3, 2009. The first official track, Fire was released on June 1, 2009.
Other tracks include Where Did All The Love Go?, Take Aim, Swarfiga, Thick As Thieves, Fast Fuse, Happiness, Secret Alphabets, and Ladies & Gentlemen (Roll The Dice). The song Road Kill Cafe is a Japan Only Bonus Track and Cunny Grope Lane is a Japan Bonus Track and iTunes Pre-Order. The popular video game FIFA 09 features Fast Fuse. The song was also WWE pay-per-view event Cyber Sunday 2007s official theme song.
When you listen to Kasabian's new album, you get a sense of a slight Pink Floyd influence. The bands man in front, Tom Meighan, feels this album does not differ wildly from the other two.The music moves nicely without interuption. He believes this recording is farther out than the others and is a mind-bending experience.
Quentin Tarantino could make these guys very pleased. Why not use West Ryder Lunatic Asylum as a soundtrack? Guitarist Sergio Pizzorno thinks it would work. Quentin was into it after Rosario Dawson played the track she worked on, West Ryder/Silver Bullet, for him. He noticed the Clash, Daft Punk, and Rolling Stones peeking through the cadence. People will not be able to sit still through this music according to Quentin. The funkiness moves at a pace that will have you hanging by your fingertips! Don't allow this CD go by without giving it a serious checkout.
If you are a fan then
Kasabian's New CD is a must have for your CD box. It is similar to the previous recordings, but
