While the health care issue continues to be a crisis and realizing the many Americans who can no longer afford health care, the high cost of health care has a less talked about benefit for all. American heath care had brought about an abundance of health care advances unequaled anywhere in the world.

There is no question that a Nationalized Health Care system will benefit those who can no longer afford health care for a better life. But this system could very well mean cut back in research and development of new and better cures and procedures for disease victims of HIV and the many forms of cancer. There could be a greater than expected trade off.

Part of the high cost of the American health care system stems from the desire to do the scientific research needed to further investigate the diseases that are killing people and assists in finding new cures and treatments as well as technological advances in the area of screenings for these illnesses. At first glance, it may seem that American's pay way too much for their health insurance and for health care, but in the long run this extra money is invested in the overall lives of the American public.

While the bigger picture would paint the overall numbers of people being able to have affordable health care options, they fail to report the lack of much needed funds required to make medical advancements possible. Other countries with a government run health care system have to depend on other nations to come up with new and better more effective ways to treat the health problems of its population.

The United States is a forerunner in health care because it takes the money that it obtains and uses it not only to treat those who are sick with current treatments but also to dig deeper looking for better and more advanced ways to treat the ill and find the diseases more quickly. These advances are necessary to improve longevity and survival rates from a variety of different diseases. Moving to a nationalized system of health care may reduce the technological advances being made in this country, reducing the overall quality of life in the United States while providing more people with health insurance to cover them for this lesser quality of health care.

There are tons of individual health insurance companies to check into. Locating the right medical insurance is something to be very careful with.
