Some people love traveling. The fun and adventure that can come from it can be great and very satisfying. Some people love traveling, but they hate flying. Many people like going different places, but because they do not like to fly, it limits them to only places that they can drive to. This can really limit the amount of places that you can go to
Sure you can drive from the east coast to the Grand Canyon, but it sure does cut into your vacation time. Even if you drive there non-stop, you will still use two days of your vacation up each way. If you only have a week, there's no reason to go. Even if you have two weeks, you will spend almost half of it in a car on the road. It almost makes the trip not worth taking.
If you are going to spend more than one day in a car driving somewhere, it might be time to start rethinking your stance on flying. Sure, flying can be a hassle and it can be a chore, but sitting in an airport and on a plane for a couple of hours beats sitting in a car for two days. You can get anywhere in the US in just a few hours, not counting layovers and delays of course, but it can be much more time saving and efficient that taking that long drive. And with gas prices as high as they are and having to book a hotel room for at least a night on a two day drive, it might even come out cheaper.
Fear of flying is a whole different issue. That is more understandable for not wanting to fly, than just the dislikes and hassles usually associated with flying. Having the time to spend actually enjoying the what your vacation destination has to offer is a really good reason to get there by air and enjoy the vacation without the exhaustion of driving endlessly.
Recovery time is the time you will need after an extensive or exhausting venture such as driving long distances to your vacation spot. You will need a vacation, before you even start to enjoy your vacation. Flying will distance you from any recovery time needed and let you almost immediately do what you came to do; vacation, vacation, vacation. Destinations such as Hawaii and or other water locked locations can only be accessed by air or water, but only if time isn't an issue. Driving there is out of the question.
Air charter is by far the lovelyst way to travel. A lovely
