If you are traveling to the Tropical North Queensland area of Australia then you probably know that you must go to the Daintree Rainforest. This is a very unique attraction and one of the largest in this region, containing some of the most unique and gorgeous plants, so it's not a stroll through woods as you will experience some things you've never seen before.

All of these special plants support a very delicate ecosystem in this area, the twenty eight unusual plants here have their own specific place that is strategic for the whole environment of Daintree. They have a role in supporting the other plants, so a balance exists amongst all of them but each one has it's own role to play.

While you are wandering around this beautiful place keep an eye out for some of these unusual plant. There is a plant called a Idiot Fruit, it flowers but it's only recently discovered in 1970 because cows were dying after ingesting it. Another indigenous plant here is a Blue Quandons, it has blue fruit which are big enough to help make a type of canopy which protects the plants under it from the sun, and it makes a rainforest roof.

Amongst the beautiful flora here some of these plants are not very nice to the tourists wandering through so keep an eye out for these. Look for the wait a while vine, as it's a vine it will be hanging from a tree or laying flat on the ground of the rainforest. It has some really awful spikes that can tear skin, clothing or whatever else it touches. Another one is called the stinging tree, as the name implies it will make you itchy and stinging if you run into it. Look at it in a picture so you know what to look for as the prickles on the large leaves are microscopic, you won't see them until you run into it.

A good rainforest safety policy is not to touch anything you don't know what it is, talk to a ranger or tour guide to learn about it. This way you can enjoy all of the wonderful plants and animals available for you to see during your time here.
