We all get heartburn once in awhile. Usually it is because of a midnight run to Taco Bell or wolfing down a Big Mac in a matter of seconds. Just about everyone has done that once and has lived to tell the story. It is an unpleasant feeling that leaves you a great deal of remorse the next day when your stomach is aching and your eyes are bloodshot from a lack of sleep. It happens to almost everyone, but there are also some times when it becomes a chronic annoyance and it isn't so easy to take lightly, especially during times of pregnancy. Being pregnant obviously brings on a certain type of heartburn, but there are also ways of making the situation even worse at a time when everything needs to be perfect for the baby to be.

Most people have the sense to not smoke during a pregnancy, but there are also a lot of people who don't happen to be pregnant and decide to blow $5 for a pack of cigarettes that turn their lungs into a disgusting coal mine. Cutting down on smoking can help your body's saliva glands which help you digest your food, but don't think you can keep smoking and just use over the counter drugs to make things better. Ibuprofen might lead to a short-term fix, but will also likely lead to long-term damage.

Fish Oil. This common over the counter pill is something that is being recommended to people who are looking to improve their heart health and reduce their cholesterol. While there are many health benefits to taking fish oil this little pill can exacerbate your heartburn. Stress. Some believe that stress causes an increase in the production of acid in the stomach while others believe that it just makes all symptoms worse. Either way if you are under a lot of stress you could find that your heartburn is getting worse and some stress reducing techniques may help you to put your heartburn behind you.

Finally, peppermint can cause just as many problems as fish oil. There are good aspects to using peppermint but it is little more than a simple home remedy that shouldn't be considered as anything more. Obviously being overweight is a trigger that doesn't need to be pulled.

Talk to your doctor immediately if you are suffering from severe heartburn. Save yourself the kinds of problems and pain that come from chronic heartburn and use common sense. Most of what you need to know is right in your brain.

Utilizing self employed health insurance is crucial for lots of people. Having catastrophic health insurance is a smart way to avoid financial issues.
