Employment is an agreement or contract between 2 parties, one being the employer who pays for service, and the other, the employee, who provides the service. An employer is an individual or an establishment who hires employees based on a contractual agreement between the two parties.
In the search of quality employees, the employer follows a recruitment process. Recruitment is a process of attracting, screening and choosing credible and qualified persons for a specific job in an establishment. In order to recruit workers for employment, the establishment or organization uses outsourced agencies to create awareness about the vacancy and the qualifications needed. There are basically five types of agencies in the recruitment industry. These are;
Employment agencies
These are traditional recruitment agencies that invite the prospective employee over for an interview and find a job with qualification requirements that correspond to that presented by the prospective employee. Shortlisted candidates are then referred to the employer for an interview. Employment agencies of today do not only operate traditionally, as most now use the internet for recruitment processes.
Niche Recruiters
These are specialized recruiters who seek out staff with a narrow and defined specialty. These firms focus their resources getting workers with a very specific set of skills, hence, they achieve superior results when compared to other means of recruitment. Niche recruiters specialize allowing them to present jobs for a specific demographic, and over time, build a database of specialized candidates for that demographic.
Head Hunters
This is a term for a third party recruiter who seeks out a candidate. Head hunters take the recruitment process to a new level as they employ aggressive means to get the candidate with the qualifications being sought by the employer. They go to the candidate, set up meetings at the home or offices of the candidate making offers on behalf of the employer, and arbitrate, negotiating terms and conditions between the candidate and the employer.
Head hunters are very specific in that they normally seek out candidates for a top spot. Positions that need candidates with years of experience and individuals with that kind of experience have to be convinced and given a better offer to get them to leave their current job.
In-House Recruitment
In the bid to reduce costs, organizations directly recruit individuals for employment. The organization’s human resource team (H.R) is responsible for getting qualified persons interviewing and training. The legal department takes care of the paper and legal work.
